Best Foundations for Oily Skin!
Hi everyone! Today I will be talking about foundations that I recommend for anyone who has oily skin! This blog post will also include foundations that give you matte or satin finishes – and I will include various foundations that range from medium to full coverage! I hope you find this blog post useful and try these foundations out! If you have any other suggestions of foundations to try – comment below! Happy reading!
1. BECCA Cosmetics: Ever-Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation
This BECCA Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation is the definition of staying matte all day! It has a liquid- to-cream consistency and it is a full coverage foundation. Out of all the foundations that I will be talking about today, this one dries the fastest. This foundation gives you that full coverage and shine proof look – but I recommend working on each part of the face at a time. If you dot this all over your face then blend it out, it dries out a bit by the time you get to blending your whole face.
If you are used to dotting foundation all your face, there are 2 ways that I suggest in order to make this foundation blend easier. You can either add a few drops of beauty oil (any kind will do; I am currently using almond oil) onto your beauty blender or flat top kabuki brush and then start blending. Another way that works for this foundation is to mix in another foundation that is more hydrating. I mix a bit of my Make Up Forever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation when I use this method to apply the BECCA Matte Shine Proof Foundation. It doesn’t alter the staying power, coverage or the matting power of the foundation; and it blends everything out much more smoothly.
This mixing method allows your face to stay matte all day (more than 8 hours) and not get oily. All you need to do is dust a thin layer of powder foundation on your face after you applied the liquid foundation, and you’re good to go! Also, with the BECCA Matte Shine Proof Foundation; you don’t need to apply an intense matting primer if you don’t want to. You can actually use a pore filling primer, the Nivea After Shave Balm, or even the Too Faced Hangover Primer if you would like to; so that the foundation doesn’t get over drying. I personally like to first use a hydrating primer; then I use a pore filling primer when I use this foundation. These primers don’t affect the matting power of this foundation and at the same time decreases the possibility of the foundation causing dry patches throughout the day! This BECCA Matte Shine Proof Foundation is definitely the driest out of all the foundations I will be mentioning – so I do not recommend this to anyone with slightly drier skin! If you have combination skin; make sure you apply a hydrating primer as the base, then a pore filler primer!Get it here!
2. L’Oréal Paris: Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR Foundation
This is my favourite drug store foundation and my top 5 foundations to use. The Infallible Pro-Matte foundation by L’Oréal Paris is amazing for a lot of skin types – from sensitive skin to oily skin and combination skin! It’s amazing because it gives you a very nice demi matte finish without having to set it with a lot of powder. If you set it with a powder foundation and a thin layer of loose powder; it gives you a very matte finish and it stays that way throughout the day. It lives up to what it’s described as – it gives you medium coverage but you can build it to full coverage. It stays matte all day – but its not drying. It doesn’t leave dry patches like a lot of matte foundations do and its easy to blend out as long as you do it quick, or blend it out 1 area at a time!
Because it is a matte foundation with buildable coverage, I always recommend using a beauty blender or beauty sponge to blend out this foundation. Of course, you could use a flat top kabuki brush, but I find that it blends out more smoothly with a beauty blender.
Another great thing about this foundation is that if you forget to put on setting spray after you’re done your makeup; it still doesn’t move or get oily! If you set it with powder and put setting spray on; you literally do not have to do any touch ups for a good 8 to 12 hours. The only thing I will say that could be improved is the shade range. I have to mix shades 103 and 104 together to get my perfect shade – and there are less than 5 shades for darker skin tones. Also, the shades available are very different in various countries. For example, the shades offered in Australia are much more limited than the ones offered in North America. However, all in all – it really is one of the best foundations I have ever used!Get it here!
3. Milani Cosmetics: Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation + Concealer
The Milani Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation is the best full coverage drugstore foundation! This is also 1 of my top 5 foundations – but I personally like the L’Oréal Paris: Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR Foundation a bit more just because I can wear it during the day or for simple make up looks. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Milani one as well! Because the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation is a complete, full coverage foundation, I prefer using it for glam looks; or when I want full coverage or when I’m doing a night time look.
They were right about the conceal + perfect part of this foundation! When I use this foundation, I do not need to do any color correcting. I still use concealer for brightening – but I do not need a lot of it. For example, if I pair this with the Nars creamy Radiant Concealer; I make sure I use less concealer to avoid looking cakey. This foundation really does an amazing job with covering any blemishes, acne, redness, dullness or any spots that you would like covered.
A little bit of this foundation goes a long way. Personally, 1 pump of this foundation covers most of my face providing a medium and close to full coverage. However, I usually use 1 pump and a half so that I get the full coverage that I want. This foundation is definitely thicker, but it does not feel cakey. It gives your skin a very nice finish – and it literally stays on all day and doesn’t move around!
This foundation stays on for a good 8 to 14 hours; and better when you set it with loose powder and setting spray. I would recommend setting this foundation with loose powder (but not a powder foundation because its very full coverage) just so that it gives you a very nice matte (but not dry) finish. This foundation is not only great for people with oily skin, but also perfect for people with acne prone skin, combination skin and people with slightly drier skin. It’s definitely a must have for anyone that loves foundations – and it smells amazing too!Get it here!
4. Maybelline Matte and Poreless Liquid Foundation
The Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation is also a good foundation for people with oily skin. This foundation definitely only dries down to a satin to demi matte finish – so its perfect for combination skin and dry skin.
The Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation is the most liquidy out of all the foundations mentioned – and it is also the least matte (at least for me). However, it does give a nice satin finish and it’s good for people that get greasy throughout the day because it gives you a dewy finish without looking like a grease ball. It provides a medium to full coverage – and I definitely recommend that you set it with a powder foundation or a loose powder; or even both. Personally, I set this foundation with a powder foundation and loose powder because I get oily easily. As long as I set it with 2 powders, I only need to touch it up if I wear it for more than 6 hours.
I would recommend this to anyone who desires a medium to full coverage and for anyone that is looking for a good foundation for a simple daytime look because it looks very natural on the skin. I personally like more of a super matte finish when it comes to foundations; so this is not one of my absolute favourites. However, I still use this when I am in hurry (which happens quite often) because it blends out like a dream. This is definitely the go to dewy, satin foundation for oily skin!Get it here!
5. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation is my absolute favourite non drugstore foundation and the best foundation I have ever used. It’s amazing because it’s not drying, it’s full coverage and it keeps you matte all day. This foundation works for any skin type – I don’t know how but it does! For my skin type (oily and a bit of combination skin), I love using this foundation because I do not need to use a hydrating primer or matifying primer – a pore filler primer will do! Also, it provides a medium to full coverage – and a little goes a long way. It gives you a very natural finish; but it stays in place all day and doesn’t get oily.
This is my favourite non drugstore day-to-day foundation to use – and when I am going out at night or doing a full glam look; all I need to do is put a bit more on! It’s very comparible to the Milani 2 in 1 Conceal and Perfect Foundation; but I just like the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation more because it feels more comfortable and natural on the skin. Also, compared to a lot of other foundations available on the market; this foundation has a larger shade range. This foundation works well with a lot of different powder foundations and loose powders for setting purposes; but my favourite way to use this foundation is with the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer and Powder Foundation. If you haven’t tried this out yet, you really should!Get it here!
