Hi guys! It’s time for my monthly favourites that aren’t lip products (I do a separate post on lip products every month) and this month I’ll be talking about mostly face products and an eye shadow! If you want to know what products I have been obsessed with for the month of July, keep on reading!
1. L’Oréal Paris: Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR Powder Foundation
I previously raved about the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR liquid foundation in my June favourites post so its not surprising that I would love the powder version too. I love this Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR Powder from L’Oréal Paris because it does a great job in helping your skin stay matte throughout the day, it helps the foundation stay in place and become one with your skin.
The way I like to use it best is to build my Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Foundation to a light to medium coverage, then put concealer on and proceed to baking my T-zone area. After baking my T-zone area, I dust off the excess powder and use a large powder brush to dust a thin layer of the Infallible Pro-Matte Powder Foundation all over my face. Lastly, I set my concealer with banana powder to brighten my under eye area. This is my current routine because it’s summer and I get oily very easily - so I do need to set my face with different powder products. I haven’t tried this in the winter yet but when I do, I will probably do the same routine except that I will not be baking my T-zone area so that my skin doesn’t dry out throughout the day.
Another reason why I love this powder foundation is because you can use it with different foundations and still gives you an airbrushed finish. I have tried a few other powder foundations before with different liquid foundations that aren’t the same brand as one another; and the results were mostly disastrous. It would get cakey, leave dry patches and doesn’t keep the liquid foundation in place. However, using this Infallible Pro-Matte Powder Foundation with a different brand of foundation works just as well as using the same brand! If you’re looking for a new powder foundation to try, I definitely recommend the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR powder foundation!Get it here!
2. Too Faced: Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Light/Medium
I’m pretty sure by now it’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of Too Faced! This month, my favorite is the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in the shade Light/Medium. It smells like chocolate, its crazy pigmented and it blends like a dream. The Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Light/Medium is a perfect light, neutral brown. It’s also matte with no shimmer in it and it is a cool toned shade with just the slightest warmth- making it very versatile for bronzing as well as contouring.
My favourite way to use this bronzer is as an all over face bronzer after I use the Medium to Deep shade to contour my cheekbones. Another way I have been using this bronzer a lot is to use it to contour my face on a day where I wear the no make-up make up look because it creates a soft contour that still makes your face look slimmer without having your contour looking too sharp. Also, I am generally pretty afraid of contouring my nose- so this bronzer is the perfect colour to contour my nose with because it creates a light shadow that looks effortless and natural. The Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Light/Medium is the perfect neutral matte bronzer that can be used as a contour color that smells like chocolate; definitely one of my favourite matte bronzers of all time!Get it here!
3. Too Faced: Born This Way Concealer
I’m sure everyone knows how much I love the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation so I was beyond excited when I found out about the Born This Way Concealers! I made sure I was on time for the Sephora launch event for these concealers in Toronto and even got a few shades on the Too Faced website when they launched (yes, the obsession is real)!
The Born This Way Concealer definitely lived up to my expectations. It’s a bit thicker than the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer which is great because even though I like my Urban Decay concealer, I actually prefer the coverage and shade range of the Born This Way Concealer more.
This concealer does not cake or crease, and its definitely a medium to full coverage. On a day to day basis, I use the shade light medium to conceal and highlight. For an everyday make up look, I find that a thin layer of this concealer is all you need- and it gives you a very nice medium coverage. On the days that I’m going for more of a glam and concealed look, I use light medium to conceal and the shade light to highlight. For these days, I put more layers of both concealer shades to build a full coverage look and it still doesn’t get cakey or crease. Whether you put on a thin or thick layer, it still makes your skin look flawless, bright and natural at the same time.
Also, I have combination skin and I found that this Born This Way Concealer worked for all areas of my face (that I usually highlight and conceal). I just love the way it looks and feels on my skin- it has officially become my favourite concealer of all time. I definitely recommend this concealer to everyone because it suits every skin type and it stays put throughout the day. The only thing that I would say is a downside is that their shade range is not big, so hopefully they come out with more shades that fits all skin tones. In the meantime, if you haven’t tried the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer- do try it out!Get it here!
4. Looxi Beauty: Highlighter in Stiletto (The 36 mm pan is 7.50 USD and the compact that’s 59 mm is 15 USD)
I recently discovered Looxi Beauty and I am obsessed! I came across this brand while I was looking for dupes for the 2 Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Highlights. Looxi Beauty came out with 2 highlights that are exact dupes for the 2 Pat McGrath shades and I couldn’t be happier because I couldn’t justify spending almost 100 dollars for a highlight (even though it includes a brush and double ended stick highlight I just didn’t really feel like it was worth it). Don’t get me wrong, I admire Pat McGrath and congrats to her for coming out with such pretty highlights that are so innovative and different from other highlights- but Looxi Beauty sells their dupe versions for a much more affordable price.
I have been loving the Looxi Beauty highlight in Stiletto and it is also an amazing dupe for the Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Highlight in 003. It’s a soft, iridescent gold highlight that looks gorgeous on the skin. Of course, in the end of the day, the formula will always be a bit different as it wasn’t produced in the same lab. But, the colour and shade is exactly the same - which I think is more than good enough!
I personally haven’t tried the Pat McGrath highlighters but I love Stiletto. I love the way it feels on the skin because it blends really well but it doesn’t take away from the iridescent aspect and the shine. It looks natural but yet bold at the same time because of the iridescent gold- and Looxi Beauty also offers their highlighters in different pan sizes, which is a major plus. I purchased quite a few of their highlighters and I honestly love all of them- but my current favourite is definitely Stiletto. It’s the perfect iridescent highlight that I would recommend for people who want to explore and test out a bolder highlight that is still subtle at the same time!Get it here!
5. Bobbi Brown: Eye shadow in Toast
I have always been more of a lipstick person because I really don’t like my eyes - and every time I tried to use eye shadow or had my make up done, I never liked the results. But, one day I was watching one of Jaclyn Hill’s Youtube videos on how to rock bright eyes and bold lips (for people with smaller eyes) and saw her using Toast and I instantly loved the colour. The colour and the way she used it made me actually want to go and try it out for myself and I have to say - its perfect and it looks great! Toast is the perfect shade to put into your crease. It looks very natural and its so blendable and you can do multiple looks with it.
You could just blend Toast into your crease area and pack a bit more of Toast onto your eye lid or mix it with a lighter cream coloured shadow to create a natural look and contour your eyes. You can also use it as the perfect transition colour to blend other darker or shimmery eye shadows onto your eyelids. I love using Toast for my everyday eye look because it shows a really nice contoured effect, making my eyes look bigger and brighter.
Also, can we please talk about how perfect Toast is in terms of its shade?! It’s the perfect brown- its not too warm and not too cool toned. It’s a very muted light brown that is perfect any look and for people who want to try using eye shadow but are afraid that some browns might look too dark. Its also perfect for people who don’t have much of a crease and have small eyes. It looks so natural on the eyes but you can still see that you put on eye shadow but not in a crazy way; and it creates an instant crease for you. I definitely recommend Toast to anyone who is just starting to explore with eye shadow, you can’t go wrong with this shade!Get it here!
Here are of my July make up favourites! I know that there’s less favourites this month, but that’s because I’m still in the process of testing a bunch of new make up and I didn’t want to write about them until I was very sure on how I feel about them. I will definitely catch up on my favourites next month and give you guys a more detailed update on what other products that I have been enjoying!
