June Lip Favourites!
Welcome to my June lip product favourites! No surprise, there’s a lot of liquid lipsticks, but I am also going to be talking about some lip liners and a lip balm. I hope you enjoy reading this and as always, I bought these products all on my own and this is all my personal opinion. If you want to know more about my other June beauty favourites stay tuned for my next post! For now, happy reading!
1. Colourpop: Lippie Pencil in BFF2
Yes, yes, I know everyone has been talking about finding dupes for the Kylie Lip Kits - I personally tested out some of the dupes that were going viral and I didn’t think that they were close or identical to the Kylie Lip Kits. Then I discovered the BFF2 lippie pencil by Colourpop. It is an exact dupe for the Dolce K lip pencil (I own both) and oh my god, when I tried them both and compared them - I was so happy to have found a cheaper option that I can easily get (the BFF2 lippie pencil is less stressful to get than the Kylie Lip Kits).
I always loved the Colourpop lippie pencils but I used to lean towards the darker colours because every nude or mauve lip pencil I got were too light or peachy on me (I’m a light beige shade with yellow undertones). But the BFF2 lippie pencil is on a whole new level and I’m in love. It’s so creamy, it’s the perfect brown nude and looks good with every liquid lipstick I have been using.
It’s a nude shade with just the right brown undertones - it actually looks like a proper nude shade on me and it doesn’t look bright on me, super natural! This lippie pencil pairs perfectly with any nude, mauve or dusty rose liquid lipstick and you can’t go wrong with this!Get it here!
2. Mac: Lip Pencil in Hover
The Hover lip pencil is one of the only 3 nude lip liners that I can get from Mac that won’t look too orangey on me. It’s a sultry nude lip liner with a slightly peachier undertone than the Colourpop BFF2 lippie pencil. It’s hard to describe but it almost has more hints of orange to it but it still looks like a mauve brown on me, which is a pleasant surprise! This and the Colourpop BFF2 lippie pencil are both perfect if you want to over line your lips a bit, then apply a liquid lipstick or regular lipstick. Also, because both of these colours are so pigmented and creamy, I sometimes wear them alone and put a bit of lip balm on!Get it here!
3. Too Faced: Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Cool Girl
To be honest, the colours from this line did not intrigue me all that much. The nudes and mauves are pretty, but If I don’t use a slightly darker lip liner (like the ones I mentioned above) before applying these, the colours look super washed out on me. However, I’m in love with their formula.
My favourite colour from this collection is Cool Girl because it’s nude and even though I need to pair it with a lip liner, it just creates such a beautiful shade after you pair it. It's extremely pigmented, lightweight, transfer proof, they don’t move around and they’re creamy but liquid-ey at the same time. The best part is that they do not flake on me even after hours of wear, which is a really big deal breaker for me. Hopefully they’ll come out with a more nudes and mauves that do fit a range of skin tones! But overall, definitely a June favourite!Get it here!
4. Kylie Cosmetics: Kylie Lip Kit in Candy K
I know there’s a lot of hype around this, and I didn’t like this colour at first because I thought that it looked too bright on me. I started experimenting and started using the Colourpop BFF2 lippie pencil or Dolce K lip pencil instead of the Candy K lip pencil and it created the perfect light mauve liquid lipstick shade on me with nude undertones. These lip liners along with Candy K makes my lips look natural, pouty and still gives a nice pop of colour. It’s becoming my favourite lip combo and some days I literally need to stop myself from using Candy K so that I can try other liquid lipsticks! I also love this because its lightweight- all you need is one swipe with the liquid lipstick and you’re good to go. Candy K is definitely worth getting, even though the purchasing process is so stressful!Get it here!
5. Jeffree Star: Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin
I only recently started using Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks and I love them. So far, I have Celebrity Skin and Gemini, but since I have been gravitating towards nude liquid lipsticks this month, I haven’t used much of Gemini. I love the formula and pigmentation of these liquid lipsticks! I just wish they had more wearable shades (I think more shades are coming out soon, checkout the TazelBox Instagram for more regular updates!) but overall Celebrity Skin has been my ride or die this past month. Also, I can actually wear this without a lip liner and when I do want it to look darker, I pair it with the Colourpop BFF 2 or 3 lippie pencil and it looks amazing!Get it here!
6. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Liquid Lipstick in Ashton
*Drum rolls* We’re finally at my last favourite liquid lipstick of the month! Ashton is absolutely my favourite liquid lipstick after Candy K by Kylie Cosmetics. I love the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick formulas, and its in my top 3 all time favourites. I didn’t really like her colours from last year (Pure Hollywood and Dusty Rose) but her colours from her Spring/Summer collection are just gorgeous.
Ashton is perfect and so comfortable on the lips- I can wear this day or night. I love the brown toned terracotta shades and this one is perfect - I haven’t found anything similar to this and I’m okay with it. Also, I was fortunate enough to meet Anastasia in person last Friday and she’s so sweet and nice! I love being a fan of a brand that makes quality products, and has an owner that is nice and down to earth. Ashton by Anastasia Beverly Hills is definitely going to be my best friend for a long time!Get it here!
7. Lush Cosmetics: Lip Service Lip Balm
I always used Vaseline as my lip balm and I have tried a few lip balm brands but I don’t like scents, so I always ended up going back to Vaseline. But, when I started using liquid lipsticks more, I realized that Vaseline stopped working for me, instead it back fired (my lips were more dry). So I went to Lush, picked up this lip service lip balm as well as a lip scrub and this lip balm is bomb dot com. It’s incredibly smooth, has a nice shea butter smelling scent to it and moisturizes my lips thoroughly - I also think its making my lips look poutier and I’m not complaining!Get it here!
