#TravelTuesdays: Una giornata a Milano (A day in Milan)
Welcome to another installment of how to spend 24 hours in a famous city in Europe! If Fashion, Food and Fine Arts are your favourites, then Milan is a must see on your travel list. Here is a quick guide on the top 5 things to see and do for a day in Milan!
1. Duomo di Milano and the Piazza del Duomo
This is the most famous landmark of Milan. Take the 170 steps to the roof of the Duomo for some of the most amazing views of Milan.
Quick tip: Pay 7€ and climb the stairs to the top or pay 12€ and take the elevator to the top!
2. Castello Sforzesco
This castle was built in the 15th century. In present day, it is a cultural complex home to 9 Museums including the Museum of the Rondanini Pietà which houses the last marble sculpture that Michelangelo worked on from the 1550s until the last days of his life.
Adjacent to the Castle is the Parco Sempione where one could take a break in general amongst vast greenery which reminded me of Central Park in NYC.
Quick tip: Free entry is offered from 2pm every Tuesday and for the last hour of every day.
3. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
If you are a shopping addict like I am, then you will be glad to say that once you have visited this Galleria that you will have stepped foot into the oldest and most stunning shopping mall in the world. The mall houses all luxury brands ranging from Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel and many more known fashion brands!
Quick tip: If you do not want to stand in line to climb the Duomo steps, take an elevator ride to the top of the Galleria and walk across the rooftop via the Highline Galleria.
4. Santa Maria delle Grazie
The Holy Mary of Grace church is an UNESCO World Heritage site, as it houses the mural of the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance, as it is hard to get tickets last minute due to the popularity of the site.
Lastly, of course it’s impossible to go to Milan and not have one or all of the following: Pasta, Pizza and Gelato!
